iMountain.com web hosting - Full 3 Month Review
Basically I had an old account at hawkhost.com which was doing OK; but I needed something hosted closer to me (I am in California and they are in Texas). So I came on here looking for advice. Due to the size of my site and the other that I host (a 3rd was added about 2 weeks ago); a hosting provider with ample resources was necessary.
The site for public viewing is http://www.ontarioweatherservice.com/ows.html
I finally saw one with plenty of disk space and bandwidth that would fit my needs. I clicked on the link, and saw iMountain.com in the post. What really caught my eye (besides the fact that they are hosted in Pomona and I am only 30 miles away from there!!!) was that they use solar energy to power their servers. Which is obviously very important; should the power in their area ever go out, iMountain will keep running; due to their solar power.
I signed up with them on 8/5/2007; not realizing how hard H-Sphere would be to learn; as I have used cPanel for 99.99% of my hosting life. I had numerous questions about it, so many in fact that I think the poor support guys wanted to delete my account more than once. But anyway, I finally got everything running, and the site was put live about 2 days later.
We have only experienced one major outage; that being the one that many others have posted about. That was obviously beyond our control. As stated in that post, we were given 7 days of credit for our troubles, which my free time runs out on 11/5. (The guys were nice enough to give me a free month since I just had knee surgery)
There’s really nothing bad to say about iMountain.com. I just wish they used cPanel. That’s all.
