Site5 “Juggernaut Plan” - Thoughts & opinions

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Ignoring the obvious overselling of 15 TB monthly bandwidth and 1.5 TB storage space, but as far server performance and value for money goes, what are everyone’s thoughts on Site 5 Internet Solutions‘ revamped web hosting package that is arguably the best priced plan in the industry?

Site 5 seems to have a good reputation. They use The Planet as their colocation/dedicated server provider, which is the same as HostGator which loyal WHT members seem to always rave about. The website looks great and they seem to be growing at impressive rates.

They revamped their package and offer unlimited domain hosting for $3.50/month, beating the best packages on the market - 1&1 Internet ($3.99/mo.) and Ixhosting ($4.95/mo.).

What control panel does Site 5 use? What is your opinion of them? Are they better than 1&1, GoDaddy.com and Ixhosting?

Unless they’re really terrible, when I decide to purchase a hosting package, they’re now the frontrunner of all hosting companies, bumping 1&1 down to second place.

Contacting Leaseweb.com Support

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

My server has been out for 2 days and I have only manged to make contact with them twice. Once was because I contacted them from an unauthorised email address ( its a bit hard to contact with one from the domain thats on the box that is down ) and the second was to ask for the login details ( which I supplied in the original support email anyway ).

Whilst I realise ” best endeavours ” doesnt give a time frame , I cant afford to have a server down for 2 days and counting. I am aware of what the problem is , have provided details of how to fix it. Currently I have no access whatsoever to the server.

Any Leaseweb or oyher webhosting company employee that can help with getting this looked at , please write here. Your help in getting this looked at would be greatly appreciated , I will even pay you $50USD to get it dealt with quicker. I realise that it is not an ideal time to be trying to get support but surely some staff must be on for holidays in a 24/7 data centre?

Blacklisted IPs from LiquidWeb

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

I recently upgraded my account with Liquid web from a VPS to a dedicated. Since doing so, it seems that the new IP numbers they issued us have been blacklisted for spamming in quite a few places. It is making it hard to do business with customers who we once could when we were using the IPs on the VPS.

I had one admin flat out tell me there was no way in he** would white list an IP from liquidweb because they are known for hosting spammers. I was not aware of this.

Has anyone else had this problem with them before and if so what did you do to fix it. If I can’t get it fixed, I’m going to have to move it to another provider.

Helping to choose: LeaseWeb or RackEdge

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

After my EU dedicated servers research I ended up with LeaseWeb or RackEdge.

LeaseWeb looks fast, powerful, older, bigger. RackEdge on the other hand is also very fast but not so popular as LeaseWeb. RackEdge is doing a very attractive offer that costs x5 on LeaseWeb.

What you advice me to do?

Hetzner and RapidSwitch opinions

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

I had a very bad initial experience with Rapidswitch server hardware. Just few hours after delivered and for several weeks the crap server unexpectedly crashed until the problem finally was fixed. By contrast, I never had any problem with Hetzner.
