DediWebSpace Suspended My Account! No Warning, No Explaination!

Friday, March 14th, 2008

I woke up on Sunday Morning (March 9) to find my DediWebSpace account suspended and a notice to contact support or billing. I’ve sent three emails and contacted the host provider on Skype and MSN with no reply. Before this the service was fast and reliable. Has anyone had an issue like this with DediWebSpace?

Hostmonster and Hostgator Web Hosting Download speed from Germany

Friday, March 14th, 2008

I’m searching for a cheap webhoster in US, but since I’m located in germany the DL-speed is important for me. Unfortunately neither the support from hostmonster.com nor from hostgator.com could offer me a link to a file of about 100MB to test the speed.

Is anyone here hosting a file of about that size with hostgator (shared hosting) or hostmonster and could send me a link to this file for measuring the DL speed?

HostQuack web hosting provider - Canada or NOT?

Friday, March 14th, 2008

I was looking for a Canadian reseller and was checking out HostQuack today. I did a quick whois search on them and it said that their server IP was in Canada. So I figured I might as well start a chat with a Sales Rep.

So… is their server located in Canada or no??? I managed to pull up another website that’s hosted by them and it says it’s server is in Quebec also: irootnetwork.org

Web Hosting Service Warning - EHost.net FatNetwork.net SearchItUp.com

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Awhile ago, while searching for a reliable and affordable hosting solution, I went with eHost.net after many had praised the services here from the board.

When I first started using them a year and a half ago, all was well. The sites worked nicely, and there were no hiccups to mention. About 5 months ago, problems starting occurring on several of the sites. SQL servers were going down, then the servers themselves.

Addressing the issues were lasting anywhere from 12 hours to 5 days, depending on the domain and server.

Uptime Monitoring for Shared Hosting?

Thursday, March 13th, 2008
Is there such a thing that will allow me to monitor the uptime on my shared hosting? If so, how much bandwidth/resources does such a service take up?

I’ve recently gone to a new host–one that is fairly well liked here too–and I’ve been surprised to find out that the uptime is not at all what I expected for a host with good reputation both here and at HostJury. I feel as though been getting a lot of regular slowdowns and downtime, and I’ve only been with them for a little more than a week! Anyway, I’m refraining from mentioning the name of the host for now, because I’d like to still give them the benefit of the doubt while I’m working with their tech support, who have been extremely responsive thus far.

But this is why I’m interested in uptime monitoring. Any suggestions?
