Need Reviews On FancyFreeHosting.com free web hosting

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Just has a look at the website. At least they’ve put a but of effort into the website itself. Never heard of them other than that though. I think they should take the Adsense off the main page though — not because I don’t think they should make a few bucks, but because it looks kind of desperate. There are other ways to make money rather than have Adsense on the very front page. It screams: “we don’t make money so click the ads”. Of course the service is set up to make money. People don’t give stuff away for nothing, for no eventual return. That’s just my two cents.

Are there any reviews on FancyFreeHosting.com…? They also offer premium hosting.

000WebHost.com free web hosting - service review

Monday, March 10th, 2008

From what I have heard, 000WebHost.com (free web hosting) are pretty good, except for the signup process and customer service. The technical side of things tends to run pretty well.

There is a thread about this in one of the free hosting offers sections, which is discussing 000webhost and its problems (and good attributes, too). You may want to check that out for additional info.

I only used 000webhost briefly, and did not run into the same trouble as others have. I was using it mainly to vet the competition!

Considering Bluehost for Postini worried about latest reviews

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Hi All, I’ve used ipower in the past and have been googling my head off reading reviews of other hosts. I was going to try hostgator but for one client I’m leaning towards Bluehost (or hostmysite) as they offer postini email filtering on a per mailbox basis. Postini is supposed to be excellent and my client has a 100 per day problem with email.

He has 20 or more email accounts so I would only be using Postini on the most spammed email accounts and the regular spam filter on the rest. I’ve read online that some customers that came from ipower noticed more spam when moving to hostgator and bluehost… so I’m more confused than ever.

Review - 6 Months at Iron Mountain web hosting

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Last August ‘07 I was around here quite a lot looking for a new host. I had just spent 2 years with a name brand VPS hosting company whose support and service had become pretty bad. So I started looking around.

After a couple of false starts and some misdirection by another VPS provider, I found Iron Mountain hosting.

First, I should say that I’m not a reseller but have about 25 of my own websites. And I develop a new one from time to time .. and take one down from time to time.

For the record, one of my sites is http://www.asia-gems.com

HostGator review - VERY Disappointed. Is There a BETTER Shared Host for the Same Price?

Monday, March 10th, 2008

I recently signed up to HostGator, after performing a lot of research on the front end and reading how they had great speeds etc… However that has sadly NOT been my experience so far!

The download speeds have been significantly slower than what I had with 1&1, with server loads averaging in the high 5’s with 2 cpus. (Due to the reviews I had read, I expected HostGator to be significantly quicker than 1&1, but the opposite has been true so far.)

There were quite a few complications with moving my vB site over (which I had them migrate for me), and several aspects still aren’t functioning correctly. They lost some of the special characters in the database on the first move attempt. Now a bunch of my pages on my vB are coming back with a 404 File Not Found error, such as my User CP, Profile, Options, Avatar, etc…
